Health
Insuring access to affordable
and quality health care is a matter of national security for the
United States. I believe it is imperative to expand programs such
as Medicaid and SCHIP to cover all Americans uninsured here in the
United States, and I am opposed to increasing the age requirements
for Medicaid. I have co-sponsored H.R.
3000, The Universal Health Services Act, which would increase
the availability and continuity of health care through integrated
systems, while financing the training and education of health care
workers and professionals establish a set of standards. It would
also allocate health services to all communities.
I will continue to support a fair prescription drug benefit to Medicare and have
co-sponsored H.R.
3861, The Medicare Informed Choice Act, which would delay the
late enrollment penalty until the end of 2006, and would enable
beneficiaries to change plans if they've signed up for one that
doesn't meet their needs. Further, I oppose any form of health care
rationing or the use of a voucher-based system of health insurance.
