Farmers and Ranchers

“Agriculture trade has oftentimes been a one-way street. We are just painting a yellow line down the middle of it.”

Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson is committed to strengthening the agriculture economy and supporting and preserving rural America and the rural way of life. He believes in agriculture policy that creates a stable and secure economic environment that allows farmers to plan for their future. He also believes that farm policy should foremost assist family farms.

Nelson has a three part plan to revive and sustain the rural economy. First, he pushed for implementation of a new farm bill. The other parts of his plan include pushing for comprehensive drought assistance and promoting the Renewable Fuels Standard that will boost ethanol production.

Nelson is a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. Through that committee he has pushed initiatives to promote agriculture production.
