2/1/2006 Bishop Votes to Reduce Deficit and Control Spending -
Washington, D.C.--- The U.S. House of Representatives passed today, by a margin of 216-214, the final version of the Deficit Reduction Act, which will reduce government spending and cut the deficit. By slowing the growth of federal outlays and reforming portions of the government's annual mandatory spending, the overall bill will save taxpayers nearly $40 billion over the next five years - about $300 per taxpayer.

1/6/2006 Bishop UTTR-PFS Provision Becomes Law -
Washington, D.C.--- President Bush late today signed into law H.R. 1815, the National Defense Authorization Act, which included a provision by Utah Congressman Rob Bishop aimed at blocking the PFS proposal to store nuclear waste on the Goshute Reservation. Years in the making, the Bishop language will protect the Utah Test and Training Range, create wilderness in Utah’s west desert, and significantly impede the transportation of high level nuclear waste to Skull Valley.
