Secure Fence Act Becomes Law - Today, Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) commended the enactment of H.R. 6061 (King-NY), the Secure Fence Act. The legislation, coauthored by Congressman Hunter, calls for more than 700 miles of strategic security fencing on America’s land border with Mexico.

Hunter Successfully Passes Security Measures - In the week before Congress adjourned for November’s midterm elections, several critical pieces of legislation were considered and passed by the House of Representatives. The Conference reports for two bills sponsored by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-CA), H.R. 6166 (S. 3930), the Military Commissions Act of 2006 and H.R. 5122, the National Defense Authorization Act for FY2007, were passed by the House and Senate and await signature by President Bush. Congressman Hunter’s amendment to the House passed border enforcement and security legislation, also awaits signature by President Bush as part of H.R. 6061 (King-NY), the Secure Fence Act.

House Committed to Securing America's Borders - Today, Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) voted in favor of three major pieces of legislation that strengthen America’s borders and enforcement practices. The three House passed bills -- the Community Protection Act of 2006, the Immigration Law Enforcement Act and the Border Tunnel Prevention Act -- were developed after more than 20 field hearings on the security, social and economic impacts of illegal immigration.
