This fast-paced office is best served by mature, professional individuals who possess strong written and verbal skills, can take initiative, and work well with others. Interns are assigned to projects with the staff members according to issue interest or expertise, i.e. environment, telecommunications, social services, veterans, etc. Internships are available in the: The Medford District Office: Medford District Office Intern Profiles The interns in my Medford District Office have a wide array of duties and responsibilities. Responsibilities include assisting with constituent casework, monitoring legislation, researching issues and projects, clipping newspapers, answering phones, and responding to constituents. Casework includes assessing a constituent’s situation, such as a pending claim with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Veteran’s Administration, or the Social Security Administration, and advocating on their behalf to resolve the matter. An internship in my Medford District Office offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the federal government in a fast-paced office environment. Through correspondence with various federal agencies, interns have the opportunity to enrich their writing and communication skills while providing assistance to those in need. I also encourage interns to attend meetings with staff members as well as other events in the 7th District. The position requires a mature, professional individual who possesses strong written and verbal skills. Computer skills, enthusiasm, and a strong interest in the American political system are preferred. Internships are unpaid and last a minimum of 8 weeks.
