June 9, 2006 - Defeat of Net Neutrality Amendment Will Not Be End of Efforts to Keep the Internet Open to Consumers and Innovators
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Markey, the ranking Democrat on the House Telecommunications and Internet Subcommittee, made the following statement regarding the defeat of the Markey-Eshoo-Boucher-Inslee “Net Neutrality Amendment” during consideration of the Telecommunications bill on the House floor Thursday night:
When the House considers H.R. 5252, the Communications Opportunity, Promotion, and Enhancement (COPE) Act, tomorrow we will be offering an Amendment to protect Net Neutrality and preserve consumers’ access to Internet content and the services of their choice.
