Fun Facts!

1. Founded in 1630, Watertown was the first inland settlement in Massachusetts.

2. Watertown initially encompassed the present communities of Weston, Waltham, and parts of Lincoln, Belmont, and Cambridge.

3. Paul Revere printed the first paper money for Massachusetts in Watertown.

4. The Perkins School for the Blind moved to Watertown in 1912 from Boston, where it was established in 1829. Helen Keller attended this school.

5. Watertown is home to the Armenian Library and Museum of America, and the Museum of the History of Blindness.

6. Freeland O. and Francis E. Stanley manufactured the first steam-powered automobile in Watertown in 1897.
