1. The famous Thanksgiving poem “Over the River and Through the Wood To Grandmother’s House We Go” was written by Medford native and abolitionist Lydia Marie Child, who wrote the poem originally titled “A Boy's Thanksgiving Day."
2. The Christmas carol "Jingle Bells" was written in Medford in 1857 by James Pierpont.
3. Tufts University, a highly competitive and well recognized school was founded in Medford in 1852.
