1. Framingham is the largest town in the United States.
2. Crispus Attucks, remembered as the “First to Die in the American Revolution,” lived in Framingham. A runaway slave and patriot, Attucks was slain in the Boston Massacre in 1770.

3. Framingham is home to the world-renowned Framingham Heart Study, a 50-year longitudinal assessment of volunteer residents that has led to remarkable advances in the prevention of heart disease throughout the world.

4. Christa McAuliffe, selected by NASA to be the “first teacher in space,” lived in Framingham and graduated from Framingham State College., where her commitment to space science, brought to a tragic end by the loss of the space shuttle Challenger in 1986, is carried on today at the McAuliffe Challenger Center.

5. The New England Patriots chose Framingham resident Ron Burton as their very first draft pick when the team was formed in 1959. An All-American at Northwestern, “Touchdown Ron” became a beloved philanthropist and community leader before his death in 2003.
