Text Only Version - Privacy Policy & P3P

I have posted this privacy statement in order to demonstrate my firm commitment to protecting your privacy. Please be aware that the privacy policies of the United States Senate Website, which hosts this page, also apply to my pages. This policy explains the Internet or Web information gathering and dissemination practices my office uses. Please know that while mine is a voluntary policy, I support the crafting of legislation to protect the privacy of all visitors to federal government websites.

I believe that my visitors' right to privacy is a solemn responsibility of my office. The purpose of this site is to better serve the citizens of Oregon by ensuring clear and continuous communication. Any information I receive on this site will only be used to reply to your questions or comments, and will never be shared with any other entity or organization.

The U.S. Senate Website does collect aggregate data, such as total visitors per page. However, no individual user’s visit to any Senate site can be tracked by this information. The Senate does not store any personal, confidential, or sensitive information in any form.

The Information We Collect:

The United States Senate provides several online forms (e.g. Contact Ron) to better serve the needs of my visitors. The only information available to me about you as an individual Internet user is what you choose to send me using these forms. The information collected on this page (name, address, and message) is used to verify your residency and send a reply to you via U.S. Mail. Please keep in mind the U.S. Senate cannot guarantee the security of the information you submit while it travels across the Internet. If you are concerned about the security of transmitting your information over the Internet, please contact my office through the U.S. Mail at 516 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington D.C. 20510.

My web pages do not use cookies to track your visits. Cookies are small pieces of information a Website stores on a visitors’ browser to identify the user the next time they visit the site.

How We Use the Information:

My office will not sell, trade, share, or otherwise transfer any information to any group or individual outside my office. As stated above, your personal name and address information is only used to provide an immediate response to your concerns by U.S. Mail. In addition, my office tabulates the number of constituent comments on each issue. Your comments may be quoted in speeches, inserted into the Congressional Record, shared with relevant federal agencies or otherwise used in debate before the United States Senate. However, your name or personal identity will never be used without your direct authorization. I will share any submission that constitutes a physical or otherwise illegal threat or is otherwise harassing with appropriate law enforcement officials.

The Senate web service may collect and store information on the domain through which a user accesses its Website and the date and time of the user's visit to the Senator's web pages. This information is only used to measure traffic and to better serve users by improving the design of the site.
