Matheson Receives "Friend of Farm Bureau" Award

Salt Lake City, UT-Congressman Jim Matheson said today he is gratified to be recognized by the American Farm Bureau Federation as a recipient of a "Friend of Farm Bureau" Award.  Matheson received the award for his record in priority agricultural issues in the 109th session of Congress.  He was an award recipient for the 108th session as well.

"Farmers and ranchers supply our country and the world with the basic necessities of life-food and clothing.  When farmers and ranchers thrive, so do the economies of many rural Utah communities and I am proud to support issues that support their well-being," said Matheson.

The American Farm Bureau Federation is an independent, non-governmental voluntary organization governed by and representing farm and ranch families.  It is local, county, state, national and international in its scope.  The organization has more than five million members that produce food and fiber.

The Farm Bureau said Matheson earned the award for his voting record based on priority issues such as elimination of the estate tax and access to world markets.

"From a Utah standpoint, we appreciate the relationship we have with Rep. Matheson and we commend him for this achievement," said Randy Parker, CEO, Utah Farm Bureau.
