Congressional Internships
Congresswoman Matsui has both part-time and full-time internships available in her Washington, DC and Sacramento offices. These positions are a unique and exciting way to gain experience in a congressional office and a window on the federal government. Internships are open to high school, college and graduate-level students and are unpaid, although the office gladly assists interns who wish to petition for academic credit.
Duties include attending congressional committee hearings and legislative meetings, writing issue briefs, conducting research, drafting correspondence, and performing administrative tasks such as mail processing, data entry, answering telephones, and assisting staff when needed. Responsibilities and projects are tailored to each individual's interest and a concerted effort is made to ensure that students' educational and professional goals are met.
Interns are accepted at both of Congresswoman Matsui's offices on a year-round basis. Because interest is particularly high during the summer months, you should submit your resume as soon as possible if you wish to intern during this time.
Sacramento Internships
