DURBIN, OBAMA ANNOUNCE VA OUTREACH
Previous Story
U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Barack Obama (D-IL) held a press conference in Chicago on May 8, 2006 to announce that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has begun notifying disabled Illinois veterans that the state has received the lowest average disability compensation in the nation. The VA will conduct a media campaign and mail letters to more than 62,000 veterans in the state informing veterans of the situation and letting them know that there are steps they can take to improve their disability payments. The outreach is the result of legislation written and passed by Senators Durbin and Obama.
