Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Tours National Hurricane Center

Diaz-Balart Committed to Ensuring National Hurricane Center’s Needs Are Met  

WASHINGTON—Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) today visited the National Hurricane Center and where he was given a tour of the Center and discussed the upcoming hurricane season with the staff. 

“The National Hurricane Center provides a crucial service to Florida and the entire nation,” Diaz-Balart said.  “As a member of the House Science Committee and someone who relies on the Center’s reports, it is a priority of mine to ensure the National Hurricane Center has everything it needs to provide the best hurricane information possible.

“Everyone who works here, from Max Mayfield on down, are bright, knowledgeable people. I commend all of them for their dedication and commitment to research and improving our understanding of hurricanes,” Diaz-Balart continued. 

“This was a very informative meeting.  During my visit here, we discussed the predictions for this year and what steps we can take to encourage people to better prepare for a possible natural disaster.  We also discussed advancements in predicting weather and I assured them that I am committed to providing the Center the funds and equipment it needs to continue improving on its great work,” Diaz-Balart concluded.
