Update on the New Medicare
Part D
Prescription Drug Coverage
Medicare is facing some big changes in the upcoming six months
which will impact beneficiaries in the 9th Congressional District.
Beginning in January of 2006, Medicare will offer prescription
drug coverage. This coverage will be offered as insurance from
private health insurance companies. Enrollees will be able
to choose a plan and be required to pay a monthly premium. Read more.

Congressman Lynch Announces Federal Fire Grant For Town Of Norwood
Congressman Stephen F. Lynch announced today that the Town of Norwood has been awarded a Fire Grant from the Department of Homeland Security and United States Fire Administration (USFA). The federally-funded award, in the amount of $192,598, will be used to update vehicle voice communications systems, implement GPS technology and install a computer-aided dispatch system.

Congressman Lynch To Host A Series Of Open Forums On Medicare Part D Open Enrollment
Between November 28th and 30th, Congressman Stephen F. Lynch will hold a series of open forums on the prescription drug benefit under Medicare (Medicare Part D). The purpose of the five forums is to address many of the questions and concerns of seniors and others who are Medicare-eligible regarding the Open Enrollment Period for Medicare Part D.

Congressman Lynch Calls On Defense Department To Track Weapons In Iraq
Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, member of the House Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations, today introduced the “Iraq Weapons Accountability Act of 2006,” legislation that requires the Department of Defense to track weapons purchased for the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF). Lynch’s legislation comes on the heels of a key report on weapons tracking by the DoD issued by the Special Inspector General for Iraq, Stuart Bowen, Jr.
