PURSUANT TO SECTION 508 OF THE FOREIGN OPERATIONS APPROPRIATIONS ACT, THE U.S. TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY HAS SUSPENDED ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THAILAND.  USTDA WILL MAINTAIN PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTED UNDER TSUNAMI DISASTER RESPONSE FUNDING AND HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE.  WE HAVE EVERY HOPE AND EXPECTATION THAT THE SITUATION IN THAILAND WILL BE RESOLVED PEACEFULLY AND DEMOCRACY WILL BE QUICKLY RESTORED.
