Lofgren Decries Lack of Net Neutrality Protection in COPE Act - Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5252, the COPE Act by 321:101, while voting down the Markey amendment -- which would have protected net neutrality -- by a vote of 152:269. Lofgren Urges Protection of Net Neutrality on House Floor - Washington, D.C. - Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) today spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives during a debate on HR 5252, the COPE Act. Lofgren spoke in favor of Rep. Ed Markey’s (D-MA) amendment protecting net neutrality and in opposition to Rep. Lamar Smith’s (R-TX) amendment that contains no real net neutrality enforcement provisions. Read more

Lofgren Praises Judiciary Committee Passage of Net Neutrality Bill - Washington, D.C. - Today the House Judiciary Committee voted to send H.R. 5417, the Internet Freedom and Nondiscrimination Act of 2006 to the full House of Representatives for debate. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) joined with House Judiciary Committee Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R-WI) Ranking Member John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) and Rick Boucher (D-VA) to introduce this bipartisan legislation last week. The bill would ensure nondiscriminatory access to the Internet for all users. Read more

Lofgren, Boucher Introduce Bill Protecting Net Neutrality - Washington, D.C. - Representatives Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) and Rick Boucher (D-VA) joined with House Judiciary Committee Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R-WI) and Ranking Member John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) today in introducing HR 5417, the Internet Freedom and Nondiscrimination Act of 2006. This bipartisan measure would ensure competitive and nondiscriminatory access to the Internet. Read more
