U.S. Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo has been a lifelong resident of Southern
New Jersey and a successful small businessman who worked for 26
years at his family owned and operated trucking company. Frank
is also an active participant in numerous civic and charitable
efforts. Building on these accomplishments, he chose to continue
his community service by entering public life.
Frank has been elected to serve the area on the county and state
levels, first on the Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders
from 1985-87 and then in the New Jersey General Assembly representing
the First Legislative District from 1988-1994. In November 1994,
Frank won election as the U.S. Representative from New Jersey’s
Second Congressional District, where he currently serves his constituents.
A member of the House
Transportation & Infrastructure Committee,
Frank LoBiondo serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Coast
Guard & Maritime Transportation and is a member of the Subcommittee
on Highways and Transit and the Subcommittee on Aviation, all of
which are important to addressing New Jersey’s growing and
ever-changing transportation needs. A staunch advocate for strengthening
our nation’s security, Frank also serves on the House
Armed Services Committee and is a champion for New Jersey’s bases
and service personnel, especially on issues of military pay and
benefits.
Frank is also a fierce supporter of Southern New Jersey veterans.
In 2006, he announced a public-private partnership between the
VA and Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton to provide veterans
across Southern New Jersey with local acute inpatient and outpatient
care, thus minimizing the need for area veterans to commute to
Wilmington, DE or Philadelphia, PA for VA-approved healthcare services.
Additionally, in his continued efforts to bring increased services
to area veterans, Frank secured funding for an outpatient clinic
in Cape May County and a VA-handicap transport van for veterans
needing extensive medical treatment at out-of-state facilities.
Frank has also maintained a strong commitment to protecting the
environment, working to protect fragile wildlife and wetlands
areas and fighting for projects that will protect, preserve
and restore
the New Jersey coastline. His work in Congress has won recognition
from many groups including the Wilderness Society for his work
to protect national wildlife refuges and by the League of Conservation
Voters and Sierra Club for his efforts to protect the environment.
Reflecting his background in business, Congressman LoBiondo has
been a fiscal conservative who has worked to restrain the federal
budget from wasteful spending. Showing that fiscal restraint begins
at home, Frank also returns to the U.S. Treasury the unused funds
from his congressional office’s mailing account.
LoBiondo, 60, received a B.A. in Business Administration from St.
Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and lives in Atlantic
County with his wife Tina.
The Second Congressional District of New Jersey includes all of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties and parts of Camden, Gloucester and Burlington counties.
