GROUP PUSHES FOR 25% OF ENERGY
WASHINGTON,
D.C. –
Iowa Congressman Tom Latham announced his
membership in a broad and politically
influential renewable resources coalition on
Capitol Hill Wednesday. The group also unveiled
a major new goal to secure “Iowa has been a world wide leader in the creation and enhancement of renewable energy resources,” noted Latham. “Because of pioneering efforts like those by Iowa’s agricultural sector, clean technologies and renewable resources are ready now. The 25x’25 alliance will aggressively push policies that will ensure a prosperous and healthy future of clean energy for America.” This “25x ‘25” alliance includes bipartisan and bicameral support from numerous Members of Congress. Numerous state legislators and several Governors have endorsed the plan, as have over 140 farm, forestry and environmental organizations and companies, including the American Farm Bureau Federation, the National Association of Counties, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Environmental Defense, the National Wildlife Federation, and Deere & Co.
