Washington Tours and Tickets

The U.S. Capitol Building

Public tours of the Capitol Building are available. Tickets are required for all tours of the Capitol and are distributed each morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. for all public guided tours of the Capitol. Capitol Guide Service personnel distribute the tickets on a first come, first serve basis from the kiosk at the Southwest corner of the Capitol Grounds, next to the Botanic Gardens. Tickets are distributed one per person and are currently for same day admission only. During spring and summer months, the line for tickets forms quite early in the morning, so please plan accordingly. The general visiting hours of the Senate and Capitol are Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Because visitation guidelines will change due to security concerns, as well as Capitol Visitor Center construction progress, we encourage you to call the Capitol Guide Service Recorded Information Line at 202-225-6867 for the latest tour information.

For more information, contact Lindsay Benson in Senator Wyden's Washington, DC office at (202) 224–5244. A limited number of congressional tours are also available through the Senator’s office.

The White House
The White House has recently re-opened for tours, but it is necessary for congressional offices to schedule all tours. Tours are available Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. for parties of 10 or more people. All attendees aged 14 and above will be required to submit their name, date of birth, social security number and country of origin to their congressional office. Individuals 15 or older must also have a valid photo ID upon entry to the White House. Attendees under the age of 14 will need to submit their name, date of birth and country of origin to their congressional office. Requests should be submitted 2-3 months in advance.

For more information, contact the 24-hour White House Visitor's line at 202-456-2322 or Lindsay Benson in Senator Wyden's Washington, DC office at (202) 224–5244.

The U.S. Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is in session beginning the first Monday in October and continues for two weeks per month through April. Courtroom seating is available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis when the court is in session. The Supreme Court offers a variety of educational programs. Lectures are presented at 9:30 a.m. and on the hour until 3:30pm. No reservations are required. The building is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. The business of the Court and unforeseen factors such as inclement weather may affect public access to the building, requiring changes in the Courtroom lecture schedule and/or the building’s hours of operation.

For more information, contact the Supreme Court Visitors Line at (202) 479–3499 or Lindsay Benson in Senator Wyden's Washington, DC office at (202) 224–5244.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation
The FBI has stated they will remain closed to all tours until further notice.

The Library of Congress
"America's Library" now contains more than 75 million volumes and is a world-renowned research center for scholars. Special exhibits — including a permanent display of the Gutenberg Bible, the first book printed with moveable type — make the library a favorite tourist attraction. Free 30-minute public tours leave from the Madison Building's Memorial Hall (101 Independence Ave., SE) at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. during the week. Saturday tours are available at the same times, excluding the 3:30 p.m. tour. Tours are free and reservations are not required. A slide presentation is given hourly beginning at 8:30 a.m.

For more information, contact the Library of Congress Information Center directly at (202) 707–5458 or
Lindsay Benson in Senator Wyden's Washington, DC office at (202) 224–5244.

The Department of the Treasury - Bureau of Engraving and Printing
