Statement in Support of the Daschle-Lieberman Amendment to the Homeland
Security Bill
November
19, 2002
"The provisions which attempt to shield
drug companies from liability and assist those companies who move
abroad in order to avoid paying taxes were not in any previous version
of the homeland security legislation, and with good reason: they
have nothing to do with homeland security. They were stuck into
the bill at the last minute, without any public scrutiny or debate.
This is raw, special interest politics, and it has no place in the
Homeland Security bill."
