House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is the House’s largest committee in both membership and jurisdiction, and it oversees highways, transit, aviation, rail, water infrastructure, pipeline safety and even the Coast Guard. Serving on the committee allows me to bring to the attention of Congress the challenges that are unique to the Puget Sound area. I serve on the Highways, Transit and Pipelines Subcommittee as well as the Aviation Subcommittee.

House Agriculture Committee

As the first Member of Congress from western Washington to serve on the House Agriculture Committee in over 50 years, I am able to represent the needs of Washington state’s agriculture community that employs thousands and produces over 250 different crops and more than $5.4 billion a year in revenue. I serve on the Livestock and Horticulture and the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittees.

House Armed Services Committee

I have served on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) since being elected to the House of Representatives in 2000. The HASC has oversight of the Department of Defense (DOD) and is tasked with providing our women and men in the military the resources they need to keep our nation safe and win our nation's wars. I serve on the Terrorism, Unconventional Threats, and Capabilities Subcommittee and the Strategic Forces Subcommittee that will expand my efforts to oversee our nation's intelligence programs and to debate how we secure nuclear material around the globe. It is my belief that supporting our armed forces is tantamount to protecting our homeland. It is an honor to be a member of this important committee.
