RSC Losses and Gains
Posted by Derek Baker (11-09-2006, 10:18 AM)

Tuesday’s outcome was difficult to bear, knowing of the legislative agenda the new Democrat Majority is planning (read here and here), and realizing that several solid conservative members of Congress will not be returning.

Elected Men And Women Represent And Protect The People
Posted by Rep. Trent Franks (10-27-2006, 05:15 PM)

With all the talk surrounding The New York Times leak of the financial tracking program in a June 23, 2006 news article, and the mea culpa from The Times public editor Byron Calame, The New York Times, 10/22/06, we should be reminded of some of the things said when Republicans passed H. Res. 895 (174 House Democrats voted against this measure), condemning the unauthorized disclosure of classified information and stating that the House expects the cooperation of news media organizations with this.

Secure Fence
Posted by Rep. J. Gresham Barrett (10-27-2006, 03:58 PM)

The Secure Fence Act is a very important and strong step forward to reforming illegal immigration.  We must secure our borders before we do anything else.  Our borders in the past few decades have gradually served little security or deterrence from illegal passage.  Successfully, over the past year, we have doubled border security funding, increased border patrol agents, and activated National Guardsmen to help protect our borders.  Integrating these initiatives with the newly implemented Secure Fence Act creates a comprehensive immigration strategy which will further protect our borders and make Americans safe.

The Three R's
Posted by Rep. Mike Pence (10-27-2006, 11:59 AM)

Yesterday, I defined the real Democratic agenda as "The Three R's."  Click here and you'll see what I mean.

Living under the Muzzle
Posted by Paul Teller (10-25-2006, 03:13 PM)

Just a quick reminder that we are currently living under the speech-muzzling McCain-Feingold/ Shays-Meehan law (Public Law 107-155), which makes it harder for citizens groups and individual citizens to participate effectively in the campaign process.  For now, McCain-Feingold/ Shays-Meehan Part Deux (H.R. 513), which would muzzle groups like the College Republican National Committee and the Club for Growth, is dead.  But expect the campaign finance "reformers" to be back in action in 2007 with another push for increased federal campaign speech regulations.  The good news is that conservatives, led by RSC Chairman Mike Pence, will again push a freedom-based approach (H.R. 1316) to campaign finance.  Stay tuned...

Conservative Unity
Posted by Rep. Mike Pence (10-23-2006, 09:51 AM)

I thought you'd want to see my statement calling for conservative unity in response to several news articles last week about conservative infighting.

Homeland Goes Hollywood: Take Two
Posted by Joelle Cannon (10-04-2006, 04:27 PM)

In May 2005, the RSC released a document detailing DHS activity surrounding the hiring of former actress Bobbie Faye Ferguson as a Hollywood liaison (“liaison to the entertainment industry”), tasked with reviewing movie scripts and approving DHS’ assistance for TV and movie outlets.

Horrible Loss of Conservative Leader
Posted by Paul Teller (10-04-2006, 12:09 PM)

By now, many of you may have heard about the untimely death of former Congressman Helen Chenoweth-Hage (R-ID).  Helen was one of the most principled, thoughtful, active members of the RSC (then named the "Conservative Action Team"), and her passing is a tremendous loss to the Conservative Movement.

A Victory For Common Sense and a Safer America
Posted by Rep. Ed Royce (10-02-2006, 09:50 AM)

I was an original co-sponsor of the House passed bill and the border fence amendment.  I am frankly delighted that the Senate has listened to the American people and passed this bill.  It is a victory for common sense and a safer America.

Port Security
Posted by Paul Teller (09-29-2006, 06:53 PM)

The SAFE Port bill (H.R. 4954 conference report), with various other bills and provisions attached (think of it as a large magnet moving through a pile of paper clips), will likely not be available until 10pm or so.  Maybe we'll adjourn before midnight, but I doubt it.  Regardless, it's a shame that Members, staff, and the public won't have any significant time to actually read what's in the conference report.

Keeping Terrorism Away
Posted by Rep. Ed Royce (09-29-2006, 03:49 PM)

The Washington Times today published my op-ed written in response to the cut and run left's continued sniping of our efforts in the Global War on Terror and their recent negative spin of the relased NIE intelligence.  I believe the piece vividly demonstrates just how crucial it is for the United States and our allies to stay the course in our fight with Islamic terrorists.  The American people deserve more than the retreat called for by Senator Kennedy and Move-on.org.  The op-ed can be found here.
