Information for Students

Ray speaks with students at Springfield's Lincoln Magnet SchoolRay LaHood has a degree in education and spent six years teaching civics and social studies to students in the Peoria area.

On Capitol Hill, Ray participates in a program in which he visits local schools and reads with students

He understands the importance of education in the lives of all our children.  He also knows that teachers can have a tremendous impact on the future success of students.  He often says that many of his teachers were his role models when he was young.

From pre-schools to colleges, Ray makes it a priority to visit schools throughout the 18th District.  He enjoys discussing issues and promoting public service with the students he meets.

If you would like Ray to visit your school, please contact Ray's nearest office.

How Ray's office can assist students

Ray's office has a wide variety of programs to assist students.  From interning on Capitol Hill or a district office, to sponsoring the LaHood Leadership Summit for high school students, to nominating students to our military service academies, Ray's office is a great place for area students to turn for information.
