(Washington, DC) -- Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) announced today that the Whetstone Fire District in Huachuca City was awarded a grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program under the US Department of Homeland Security. Whetstone Fire District will receive $33,500 to use for equipment. This funding is distributed from the first round of supplemental Fire Grants of fiscal year 2005.
“Keeping our fire departments prepared is crucial for the community’s safety,” said Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ). “This grant provides Whetstone with the resources to maintain their equipment and better serve the growing communities they protect.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program assists local fire departments to purchase firefighting equipment, fund firefighter health and safety programs, enhance emergency medical services programs, and conduct fire education and prevention programs throughout the United States.
