Social Security

Social Security does face a long-term funding challenge. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the system will only be able to pay 80 percent of benefits starting in 2052. The Social Security Actuaries put the date at 2042, which is 47 years from now. This is a challenge, but not an imminent crisis. Congress should take its time to get the solution right, so Social Security stays strong for generations.
