Thomas: Tinsley Excels As Rural Development Director

October 31st, 2005 - WASHINGTON – Newly appointed Wyoming Rural Development Director, Del Tinsley, announced today that Wyoming has received $73.4 million in support for Fiscal Year 2005.

Tinsley, who was appointed to his new role as Director on Sept. 16, has a long and extensive background in agriculture.

“It’s clear to me that Del Tinsley is the right man to lead our state’s rural development efforts. I will continue to work with Del and others to implement our rural development priorities,” U.S. Senator Craig Thomas said today.

“Del is about as passionate as they come for advocating on behalf of Wyoming and folks who live in rural areas. He is clearly off on the right foot, and I applaud him for the work he has done in his first month on the job. I’ve already heard from many folks around the state who have found Del’s quick response and wholehearted commitment to rural development to be a welcome addition,” Thomas said.

USDA Rural Development consists of three areas: Rural Housing, Rural Utilities and Rural Business-Cooperative programs. Five Area Offices, located in Afton, Riverton, Sheridan, Worland, and Torrington handle program delivery in Wyoming. Thomas recommended Tinsley’s appointment to the position.

Del Tinsley, State Director, can be reached at (307) 233-6707. Lola Lucero, Public Information Coordinator can be reached at (307) 672-5820 Ex. 4.
