Thomas: It’s important that we take the time to recognize our veterans

November 10th, 2004 -

WASHINGTON – On the day that America pauses to reflect on the commitment and sacrifice of our military veterans, Sen. Craig Thomas (R-Wyo.), took time today to express his appreciation for their service. The senator will make a Veteran’s Day address at 11 a.m. at the Jackson Town Square. Thomas will join members of the Jackson American Legion. The following is the text of the senator’s statement:

“On Veteran’s Day it’s important that we take the time to recognize and honor the men and women who represent our country in uniform. They continue to give so much so that we can all continue to live in freedom. War demands real toughness and sacrifice from those who serve, as well as from their families. Today we honor and thank those who have made these sacrifices, in many cases the ultimate sacrifice, in defense of liberty, justice and democracy.”

“We remain engaged in a struggle which will surely test our national resolve. This new generation of Americans has answered the call and is defending the very values that we hold so dear. As we commemorate and honor those who have gone before, we must remember the brave souls currently serving in harm’s way in a far off land. We must renew our commitments to the ideals for which so many have fought and died. We must never forget that freedom has a very high price indeed. That price has been paid by our nation’s veterans and their families.”

“There are many celebrations planned across the country. There will wreath-laying ceremonies and parades. Our veterans deserve this recognition and more. We say thank you on behalf of a very grateful nation. America remains very proud of you.” -more-
