Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick Secures $1 Million for City of Detroit
Water and Sewerage Department

Detroit, MI — Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick has secured $1 million in funding for the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. Funds will be used to upgrade and maintain water treatment and sewage facilities.

“I am pleased to support the city’s ongoing efforts to improve its water quality and infrastructure,” said Congresswoman Kilpatrick, the only Michigan Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee. “These funds will help the Water and Sewerage department continue to enhance its facilities and provide families and residents of Detroit and southeast Michigan with clean and safe drinking water.”

Funds were allocated under H.R. 5386, the Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill for fiscal year 2007, which passed the House last week. Monies for the improvements will be provided in the form of State and Tribal Assistance Grants (STAGs), which fund local drinking water and sewer projects.
