Sodrel Applauds President for Signing Border Fence Bill
New Law to help secure U.S.-Mexico Border

Jeffersonville, IN, Oct 26 -

Today Congressman Mike Sodrel (R-IN) applauded President Bush for signing a bill that Sodrel and the House passed last month into law that will authorize 700 miles of two-layered physical fence and mandate a virtual border along the entire U.S.-Mexico border.

“This new law will help in our efforts to get the necessary boots, barriers, and technology on the border to secure our homeland from terrorists, drug cartels, and illegal immigration,” Sodrel said. “I am committed to securing our homeland and will continue to push for stronger enforcement of our immigration laws.”

H.R. 6061, The Secure Fence Act, will combine physical fencing in more urban areas with technology in rural parts to help border patrol agents stop illegal border crossings. These measures are compatible with the needs Sodrel observed on a trip to the Southern Border this summer.
