Committees
Now in her fourth term serving the great state of Michigan and particularly its diverse 13th Congressional district, Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick has been selected ;by her colleagues to serve on the powerful House Appropriations Committee. Her new appointment on the House Appropriations committee will allow he to continue her legacy of hard work and dedicated service on a broader and more influential scale. Congresswoman Kilpatrick, the only Michigan Democrat on this important committee, plays an integral role in the spending for all levels of the federal government. Congresswoman Kilpatrick serves on two of this Committee’s 13 subcommittees.

Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation

As a member of the Transportation Subcommittee, Congresswoman Kilpatrick will decide how billions in spending on buses, intelligent transportation systems, high-speed rail, and the U.S. Coast guard will be spent. This Subcommittee also determines how the U.S. Department of Transportation will continue its focus on making our highways safer, air travel more reliable and consumer friendly, and in ensuring that the state of Michigan receives its fair share of transportation funding and support

Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations

Congresswoman Kilpatrick also serves on the Foreign Operations Subcommittee. As such, Congresswoman Kilpatrick plays an integral role in determining the funding of important programs such as the Peace Corps, the Agency for International Development, the African Development Foundation, and programs that help nations become economically self sufficient.
