» Iraq - It's Time to Bring Our Troops Home "We should follow the lead of Congressman John Murtha, who has put forth a plan to make America safer, to make our military stronger, and to make Iraq more stable. That is what the American people and our troops deserve." The ‘Plan for Victory’ backdrop against which the President appeared at the Naval Academy was no more accurate than the ‘Mission Accomplished’ backdrop he used over two and a half years ago on the USS Abraham Lincoln. The President did not have a plan for victory when he went into his war of choice in Iraq, and he does not have a plan for victory today. In the last three months alone, 226 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq and the President continues to say that the security situation on the ground is better. It is not. Just because the President says it doesn't make it so. More of the same in Iraq is not strengthening our military to protect us at home or anywhere in the world where our interests are threatened, and more of the same in Iraq is not bringing stability to that region. Rep. Pelosi has joined with Rep. Murtha in calling for the redeployment of U.S. forces from Iraq to make our country safer, our military stronger, and the region more stable. Congresswoman Pelosi would like to know what you think about troop deployment in Iraq. Please indicate which of the following best summarizes your view on what the United States should do in Iraq: |
“ Democrats are united in presenting a New Direction for America, one that will make our nation as strong as its people, one that brings opportunity, security, and prosperity to all Americans. ” Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi |
