Transportation
Rural Pennsylvania faces a number of unique challenges as it works to increase it's connectivity to our nation's transportation network. Isolated small towns, difficult terrain and weather, and changing demands have forced communities throughout the 5th District to look beyond traditional roads and highways to airports and highly efficient mass transit. I am proud to have supported many of these efforts during my time in Congress. From leading the fight to ensure rural communities are connected to our air transportation system through Essential Air Service, to assisting the growth of regional mass transit systems like CATA in Centre County and ATA in the North central part of my District to grow, I strongly support the important role transportation plays in keeping rural Pennsylvania competitive. In addition, I have worked with transportation leaders across the 5th District in support of a number of important projects, including Williamsport's Market Street Bridge, the Bradford and Johnsonburg Bypasses along US 219, and Interstate 99.
