Incorrect Vote Recorded for Rep. Taylor on DR-CAFTA
Washington, DC,
Jul 28, 2005 -
An electronic error led to the reporting of an incorrect vote by Western North Carolina Representative Charles Taylor on the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement. Rep. Taylor voted “No” to the trade agreement. However an error in the electronic voting card system of the United States House led to initial reports that Rep. Taylor abstained from voting. As soon as the error was discovered, Rep. Taylor had the Clerk’s office make the correction.
“I have said for months now that I am opposed to the Central American Free Trade Agreement and my mind did not change. I voted against NAFTA, I voted against the agreement with the Chinese and I voted against this latest bill. As soon as I discovered the error, I asked the Clerk’s office to make the correction.”
