     WASHINGTON, D.C. –A federal grant of $208,950 has been approved for Northeast Community Services Agency of Johnson City. 

      Congressman Bill Jenkins said Wednesday the grant is provided by the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and will be used under the sex offender management discretionary grant program. 

       The grants are awarded to state, local and tribal jurisdictions to develop or enhance sex offender management practices for offenders under community supervision and to assist jurisdictions to either implement strategic plans already developed or to improve existing sex offender management plans. 

        Northeast Community Services Agency is headed by Mike Harkleroad, executive director, and is a political subdivision of the state.  It functions as a community outreach arm of the Department of Children’s Services.
