            WASHINGTON, D.C.—A $342,000 federal grant has been approved for use by East Tennessee State University. 

Congressman Bill Jenkins said Thursday the funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. 

The grant will be used for heart and vascular diseases research at ETSU under Project Director Jeffery Ardell. The grant funding period extends through March 31, 2006.
