WASHINGTON, D.C.—Douglas Cherokee Economic Authority has been approved for a federal grant of $107,021. 

            Congressman Bill Jenkins said Tuesday the grant comes from the U.S.  Department of Health & Human Services and will be used as a supplement to an earlier discretionary grant. 

            The funding was approved for the regional office in efforts to improve conditions for children and families in the region it serves under Head Start projects. 

            Douglas Cherokee is headquartered in Morristown.  Judy Kennedy is project director.
