WASHINGTON, D.C.—A federal grant to help improve Johnson County’s water and sewer development was approved this week.

Congressman Bill Jenkins said this week that $7,500 in funding has been earmarked for the Cold Springs Utility District for predevelopment planning that will prepare the preliminary engineering report and environment report on the project in north Johnson County.

Residents in the area are experiencing health issues, surface runoff contamination, failure and/or contamination of wells and springs, and individual septic system failures.

“This project will go a long way in helping to eliminate these problems,” Congressman Jenkins said.

The grant is made available by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development.
