WASHINGTON, D.C.—Cherokee Health Systems of Talbott has been awarded a $100,000 federal grant under the Continuation Drug-Free Communities Support Program.
Congressman Bill Jenkins said this week the funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs.
Cherokee Health Systems is the fiscal agent for the Community Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention which serves Cocke County. The program offers children and youths a variety of alternatives to substance use during at-risk times after school and during the summer. It also provides a safe, drug-free environment with healthy adult role models.
