            WASHINGTON, D.C.—A $360,000 federal grant has been approved; to aid in the acquisition of teleradiology equipment for the new 10-bed acute care hospital under construction in Sneedville. 

            Congressman Bill Jenkins said the funding comes from the Appalachian Regional Commission. 

            Jenkins said the grant will underwrite the acquisition of servers, diagnostic display station equipment, diagnostic X-ray equipment, film digitizer equipment, ultra sound and CT units, along with related installation costs. 

            “This will be helpful in the health care of people in Hancock County, “ Jenkins commented. 

            The congressman said the project is part of the ARC’s overall goal to assist the region in utilizing the Information Highway to promote economic and human resource development.
