Congressman Bill Jenkins will launch his 2005 County Days—Open Door session with a visit to Sullivan County on Monday, August 1. The congressman and his staff will appear at the Sullivan County Courthouse in Blountville at 9 a.m.

The congressman will resume a tradition he has undertaken during his tenure in Congress by taking his office to the people in a listening session.

He will meet privately with constituents on a first-come, first-served basis during the morning hours until all visitors have been served. The sessions are designed to help those who may have a problem or question on matters involving the federal government. Those with federal problems are asked to bring extra copies of any paperwork that may be involved.

“County Days provide a good opportunity for people to visit with their congressman and to give their firsthand views about the issues that our country faces,” Jenkins commented.

“I look forward to meeting with people, hearing their comments and helping them with their problems,” he added.

The congressman will visit all of the counties in his First Congressional District during the August recess in Congress. He will be in Washington County on August 2 at the courthouse annex in Jonesborough; in Carter County on August 3 at the courthouse in Elizabethton; and in Unicoi County on August 5 at the courthouse in Erwin. All times are 9 a.m.
