            WASHINGTON, D.C.—Head Start projects in the Upper East Tennessee region have been approved for $3,602,094 in funding.

            Congressman Bill Jenkins said Wednesday the funds are made available by the U. S. Department of Health & Human Services, Region IV Office for Children and Families and earmarked for the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency.

            Jenkins said the budget period will extend through December 31, 2006 and will be used for various Head Start projects within the area. 

            Project director for the Kingsport office is C. Steve Courtner.
