WASHINGTON, D.C.-Carter County has been awarded a $12,719 grant under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) program.

Congressman Bill Jenkins said this week the money will be used for the purchase of in-car laptops to be used by the Carter County Sheriff's Department.

The grant is made available by the U. S. Department of Justice in efforts to help communities in the fight against crime.
