"I am proud, honored and humbled by the resounding vote of confidence I received from the people of the 2nd Congressional District. I am grateful for their continued support of the work I've been doing on vital local and international issues such as health care, education and economic development.

"I trust that a now Democratically-led House of Representatives, and hopefully Senate, can do even more to serve the people of the 2nd Congressional District and the nation as a whole. It's heartening that Democrats will be led by the first woman Speaker of the House in the nation's history, Nancy Pelosi. Her bold, visionary and disciplined leadership will give the American people at least one chamber of the Congress that works on their behalf to address the intolerable conditions in Iraq, raise the minimum wage, lower prescription drug prices, make college more affordable and reduce our dependence on foreign oil," said Jackson.
