BOND ANNOUNCES $45 MILLION FOR MISSOURI TRANSPORTATION

WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Kit Bond today announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) is sending over $45 million to Missouri for key transportation needs.

“This money is an investment in Missouri’s future prosperity,” said Bond. “I am pleased that we are able to send these dollars to Missouri for key transportation projects throughout the state.”

The $45,845,581 million in funds were secured in the fiscal year 2002 Transportation Appropriations bill and will be used for the following projects:

* $495,654 for a Cross County Corridor Study;

* $827,318 for St. Louis Gaetway Guide, ETS; *$940,900 for the replacement of the bridge in Cape Girardeau;

* $991,307 for streetscape improvements in Springfield;

* $1,411,360 for the replacement of the Lexington bridge;

* $1,456,500 for the I-44/US 65 Interchange;

* $1,456,500 for US 60 in Butler County;

* $3,641,250 for Missouri Highway 7;

* $2,427,500 for Highway 61, Avenue of the Saints interchange in Moscow Mills;

* $3,886,428 for Routes I-44, Route D to Sugar Tree Road;

* $3,886,428 for I-44 from Bowles Avenue to the Meramec River; * $4,858,036 for I-70 from Goodfellow Blvd. To Downtown St. Louis;

* $5,826,000 for Route 71 in McDonald County;

* $6,801,250 for Junction of I-435/I-470/US71 including all of I-435 from; north of Bannister Road south to Grandview Road;

* $6,939,150 for Missouri Highway 21

As the senior Senator from Missouri and a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, Bond has worked to ensure Missouri receives the funds needed for transportation projects throughout the state.
