The Republican Congress is falling short
Over the July Fourth holiday, Americans will honor the vision of our Founding Fathers, and remember the sacrifices made by our brave troops for our nation. It is an opportunity for us to take stock of how we are measuring up to that vision, sacrifice, and the expectations of the American people. Democrats are here to say that in every respect, the Republican Congress is falling short. Democrats have proposed a New Direction for America that makes health care more affordable, lowers gas prices, helps working families, cuts college costs, ensures a secure retirement, and does it all in a fiscally sound way.

A New Direction for America
House Democrats believe that America needs a New Direction that provides opportunity, security and prosperity for all Americans. Lavish tax cuts for a privileged few, fiscal irresponsibility and a culture of corruption have steered our nation in the wrong direction. House Democrats can turn it around.
