Owego, NY - Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) today released the following statement after learning that the Pentagon awarded Boeing the contract to develop a new fleet of combat search and rescue helicopters.
"While I share in the disappointment of Lockheed Martin and its employees over the Pentagon's decision to award the combat search and rescue helicopter contract to Boeing, I know full well that Lockheed Martin will continue on without missing a beat to procure many future government contracts. Lockheed Martin remains a premier designer and manufacturer of military equipment for the U.S. government and continues to employ thousands of hardworking employees at its Owego plant. The talent of Lockheed Martin's leadership and workers is outstanding, which is why I am so confident that greater things lie ahead.
"Lockheed Martin has had a very positive influence on the economy of the Southern Tier region and I look forward to continuing to support the company on future bids so that we can experience even greater economic growth in the future."
