U.S. Rep. These projects will enhance South Dakotans’ quality of life, improve the safety of South Dakota’s roads, and promote economic development across the state.”

Rep. Herseth worked with House and Senate Appropriators to secure funding for the following projects, totaling $3.95 million:

$350,000 for Wakpa Sica Reconciliation Place, Ft. Pierre, for construction of the multi-faceted cultural and legal center serving the entire Sioux Nation.

$250,000 for Aberdeen for the development of the old high school as a recreation and cultural center.

$200,000 for North Sioux City for the construction or purchase of a new library building.

$500,000 for the City of Huron for improvements to the access road from U.S. Highway 14 to the Dakota Turkey Growers plant in Huron.

$600,000 for an Oglala Sioux Tribe bus transit system on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
