from Rep. Stephanie Herseth Herseth statement on Announcement of $2.8 Million in Funding for Mni Waste Water Project March 31, 2006, Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth's office was notified this afternoon that the Corps of Engineers is dedicating $2.8 million to connect the new intake on the Missouri River to the existing water distribution system on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. Herseth said, "I am very pleased that the Corps of Engineers have decided to complete this necessary project. The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe has long suffered from serious water quality and water supply challenges. While this may not be a permanent solution, it will meet key short-term needs to ensure that residents of Ziebach and Dewey County have access to a clean, dependable water supply regardless of Missouri River water levels." # # # |
