Homeland Security
The Republican policy on homeland security has left America critically vulnerable to the terrorist threat. Although the non-partisan 9/11 Commission released its findings over two years ago, the Republican Congress has failed to act on the recommendations of the Commission, allowing glaring deficiencies to remain. As a result, our nation remains unsafe. Democrats propose a plan for real security, which will ensure that America is protected from any threat. Democrats will work to rebuild a state-of-the-art military and will work to transform the Bush Administration’s failed policies in the Middle East. Click here to learn more. As a nation, it is vital to protect America’s security from threats at home and abroad. Democrats are working to make sure that the federal government does more to support our police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel, by providing training and equipment needed to keep America safe and secure. We must also work for tighter security at airports, seaports, rail tunnels, terminals, transit facilities, and other targets vulnerable to terrorists, taking a comprehensive, unified approach in protecting our nation.
